Entry way with slippers. Our apartment manager showed us that you must take your shoes off and put on slippers whenever you come inside. I like this!
Slot for the key card upon entry. When you come into the apartment, you need to slide your key into the slot in order for the lights inside the apartment to work. It is very handy because it forces you to turn out the lights when you leave, and also means that you never lose your keys:
Hot water pot. In the morning, you fill this thing up and plug it in, and then you have hot water all day to make green tea. I am in heaven with this set-up! Though I do sort of miss my kettle...
Control panel for the bathtub and shower located just outside the bathroom. The pink button fills the bathtub and you can adjust the temp with the up/down controls. A very friendly female voice explains in Japanese what is going on, like that the tub is filling or emptying, or changing temperature. Still need to figure out what the other buttons are...will report back:
Remote controls and panel for the heating/cooling system in the apartment. If you are hot, you just press the down button, and then a huge vent near the ceiling opens up and fixes the temp:
The shower room. In the bathroom there is one room with a sink, then another entire room with a shower and bath. The whole room can get wet with drains all over the floor. It's a really great idea!
Washer with dry. That's what it says on the appliance, but as Hakamada explained to us, the dry on these type of washers not work so well. I think it means that it washes the clothes and then spins them so they are not totally soaking wet. After doing laundry, I had our clothes hanging everywhere:
